I appreciate the way you tackled this difficult and complex subject. There are so many critical success components to a successful relationship. In addition to communicating in a loving way, and the other variables you mention, I believe that just having the AWARENESS about complexities in relationships can cause a shift in a relationship. Coming at this topic from another viewpoint, I wrote "There is No Such Thing as a Table for Two" on my blog last week. I hope you like it! http://verysmartgirls.com/relationship-communication-skills/there-is-no-such-thing-as-a-table-for-two/

to make a relationship work we must keep things back and or lie. we will not always be able to comprehend the truth about our mate. i like to think of a relationship as the maintenance of a reality that satisfies being with someone. we must be careful as to what we allow into that reality. but there is a limit. if you are working harder to keep stuff from your mate than you are to actually maintain a relationship then you probably should not be with that person.
